Jetstar Hong Kong has appointed Howard Cheung as its chief financial officer.

Cheung previously worked for Amcor and Rio Tinto Alcan from 2006 to 2012 and also had a 10-year career with General Electric.

In his new role, Cheung will oversee the finance, IT, legal and procurement functions of the airline.

The airline adds that it plans to announce the appointment of a chief executive by February, and will launch operations in mid-2013.
