Lithuanian wet-lease carrier GetJet has been granted an air operator’s certificate for a division based in neighbouring Latvia.

GetJet Airlines Latvia obtained the AOC on 30 November from the Baltic state’s ministry of transport.

Both operators will conduct flights using single-aisle Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 twinjets, with the Latvian operation aiming to introduce additional aircraft next year.

The carriers specialise in wet-lease and charter services.

“We are well-placed to develop many new opportunities for business growth, using our experience, market expertise, and the strength of our team,” says GetJet Airlines Latvia chief Rolands Ramins.

He says the decision is intended to take advantage of the recovering air transport sector.

GetJet Aviation Holdings head Darius Viltrakis says the new airline’s creation is a strategic measure which will generate businesses synergies and enable the carriers to exploit charter service potential in the region.
