China Southern Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350.

The widebody, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, will initially be operated by the carrier on domestic routes, such as those from Guangzhou to Beijing and Shanghai. International deployments will follow later.

Cirium's Fleets Analyzer shows that China Southern has another 19 other A350-900s. FlightGlobal previously reported that the 20 aircraft were the subject of a $6 billion purchase contract.

The airline operates a wide range of Airbus types — 332 aircraft in total — from the A319 up to the A380.
