In the two years since the last Paris airshow, NetJets Europe (NJE) has increased its flights in and out of Le Bourget by 58% from 1,400 to 2,400. The company (Hall 2, A17) is now Le Bourget's biggest operator, accounting for more than 15% of movements at the airport.

NJE is set to have the seventh-largest European commercial airline fleet, with 93 aircraft expected by the end of 2005, more than Easyjet or KLM. The company's business has increased threefold in the past two years; it now has more than 750 customers. Chief executive Mark Booth envisages this figure reaching 1,000 by the end of 2005.

Booth has a track record of accurate predictions. In 2004 he forecast NJE would sell 18-20 new aircraft over the year, which it has done.

Opportunity

He is also quick to spot an opportunity and has moved the company into the leisure market. Hearing that high net worth individuals at a ski resort were complaining about their journeys to their ski holidays, he jumped on an aircraft and sold three aircraft shares in a day. This January, NJE incorporated a 'ski pass' programme of blocks of 10h into its offering.
