Bombardier is in the process of making a decision about where its latest large business jets – the Global 7000 and 8000 will be built.
The airframer launched the latest Global jets late last year, and during at 31 March earnings call Bombardier Aerospace president Guy Hachey said Bombardier will make a decision about major structures for the aircraft “at the end of summer”.
Bombardier delivered 143 business jets in fiscal 2011, with 32%, or 47 delivered in the fourth quarter.
Hachey says Bombardier’s business jet business during the fourth quarter had a lot of activity, and states while the segment is seeing strong activity in the first quarter – including a landmark deal with NetJets for 120 Global jets – it is not at the same rate as the fourth quarter.
The company is sticking to previous guidance of delivering 155 business jets for the 11 months ending 31 December 2011.
Bombardier has a six month production backlog on the Learjet, 10 months on the Challenger and 23 on the Global family of aircraft.
