Five months without salaries after being made redundant by Varig’s new owner, VarigLog, three of the airline’s former flight attendants have found a solution to their financial difficulties – gracing the centrefold pages of the Brazilian edition of Playboy. Flightglobal.com has obtained pre-release publicity photos ahead of the edition's release this week (below).

Playboy Brazil September 2006 coverAfter several weeks of negotiations, the Varig flight attendants - Sabrina Knop (26), Juliana Neves (27) and Patrícia Kreusburg (30) – agreed to a two-day photo session for an undisclosed sum. With corporate jets serving as an appropriate backdrop, the photo session was carried-out at São Paulo’s Congonhas airport in early August with the September edition of the magazine (pictured right) scheduled to hit Brazilian newsstands tomorrow.

The subject gained considerable publicity in Brazil after the three flight attendants were interviewed on a popular TV show – that further underscored the troubles that 5,500 of the airline’s staff began to face after they were made redundant in August. With severance packages yet to be released, many ex-Varig employees are resorting to different solutions to tide them over – as is the case of one 60-year old former Varig Boeing 767 captain that now drives a taxi in Rio de Janeiro’s streets.
