Video has emerged of Monday’s Biman Bangladesh Airlines Airbus A310 take-off accident at Dubai, which closed the city’s international airport for most of the day.

The accident, which involved one of Biman’s four A310-300s, crippled Dubai International Airport’s only active runway, forcing the airport to close for 8h.

The A310 appears to have suffered a nose-gear collapse at the start of a planned flight to Dhaka, forcing it to abort its take-off. The video, taken from one of the airport’s security cameras, shows the A310 passing from right along the runway to left on its nose.

The A310 came to rest at the end of the runway and was evacuated. Twenty-seven of the occupants on board were slightly injured.

Dubai airport re-opened at 14:00 on 12 March, with the closure having affected 71 flights. Thirty-six from Dubai had to be cancelled while another 35 inbound aircraft were diverted to nearby airports in the United Arab Emirates – including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah – as well as Muscat, Kuwait and Shiraz.
