Sikorsky had double reason to celebrate at the show as S-92 operator Norsk Helikopter agreed to buy three new S-92s to fulfil two recently awarded contracts for North Sea offshore oil transport services and also reached an operational milestone.
Norsk is the first S-92 operator in the world to reach 1,000 fleet hours, transporting more than 20,000 passengers to and from North Sea oil fields in the process.
Sikorsky and Norsk celebrated the sale agreement with a signing ceremony. The three additional aircraft will take Norsk's fleet of S-92s to five, all operating out of Norway. Deliveries are scheduled for 2006.
Two of the new aircraft will provide all offshore services for ConocoPhillips transporting passengers between Sola and the Ekofisk oil platform located in the North Sea.
