Two Royal Saudi Air Force Eurofighter Typhoons are making a surprise appearance at the AirPower 11 air show at Zeltweg in Austria, en route to their home in the Middle East.

Being held at the Austrian air force's main Eurofighter operating base on 1-2 July and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the service's formation, the event has attracted 224 aircraft from 22 countries and various eras.

Saudi Arabia's two newest single-seat Typhoons are visiting Zeltweg during their delivery from BAE Systems' Warton final assembly site in Lancashire, the UK. After the show they will continue their journey via stops in Bari, Italy, Rhodes and Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt. BAE has already delivered 20 of the nation's eventual 72 Typhoons, as listed in Flightglobal's MiliCAS database.

Riyadh has also deployed its Royal Saudi Hawks aerobatic display team to the show.

AirPower 11 will include 9h of displays each day, with other attractions including display teams the Flying Bulls Aerobatic Team, the Turkish Stars, the Wings of Storm and the Italian air force's Frecce Tricolori.

The Austrian air force will also stage an "intercept" involving its Typhoon fighters.
