Raytheon Aircraft has decided not to become a partner with Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) and Avocet Aircraft in the ProJet very light jet programme, putting the future of the six-seater in doubt.

Sources close to the programme say Raytheon Aircraft studied all relevant data from Avocet and IAI and concluded that the risk was too great for the airframer, which was to be responsible for after-sales and product support.

Sources suggest the ProJet is now unlikey to be launched, as IAI, which would be responsible for certification and production, has also stated that it will not back the programme without commitment from another aircraft manufacturer. "From the outset we made this point clear," a senior IAI source says.

Raytheon and Avocet decline to comment.
