New Zealand agreement - New Zealand and Switzerland have signed an air services agreement allowing for scheduled services between the two countries. Air New Zealand has applied to operate to Switzerland and initial services are considered likely via a route-specific codeshare agreement with Swissair. The air services agreement allows any number of airlines from each side to operate over any routing.

Russian heads to Macau - Russian carrier Domodedovo Airlines is to launch scheduled services to Macau on 15 October, following the signing earlier this year of an air services agreement between Russia and the Portuguese enclave. Ilyushin Il-96-300s will be used on a non-stop weekly service from Moscow.

SIA in Scotland - Singapore Airlines is launching a new dedicated cargo service to Prestwick, Scotland, and increasing freight services to Amsterdam, Bangalore and Los Angeles. SIA says it will operate the new Prestwick service via Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from 2 October using Boeing 747-400 freighters.

Lufthansa axes Kuala route - Lufthansa has suspended non-stop passenger services to Kuala Lumpur from its Frankfurt base because of falling yields. The carrier says it will maintain Lufthansa Cargo services to the Malaysian capital.
