French investigators are opening a probe into a serious conflict incident at Nice airport involving a pair of Airbus A320s.
The incident occurred in darkness at around 23:30 on 21 September, as a Nouvelair A320 conducted an approach to runway 04R.
Its crew appears to have executed a go-around after an EasyJet A320 entered the same runway via the W3 taxiway adjacent to the threshold.

French investigation authority BEA has not detailed the proximity of the two aircraft but the Nouvelair A320 appears to have been around 0.5nm from the runway at the time.
The jet, which BEA identifies as TS-INP, had been arriving from Tunis while the EasyJet aircraft (OE-IJZ) was bound for Nantes.
BEA has not given any details on the runway clearances to either aircraft.
After carrying out the go-around, the Nouvelair A320 returned to land on the parallel runway 04L.
BEA states that it has opened a safety investigation, and sent four of its personnel to the scene.
