Data from three ground stations is being used to discover the fate of the US Planetary Society’s Cosmos-1 solar sail spacecraft, launched on a Russian Volna rocket from a submarine on 21 June. The Volna’s stages did not separate following engine shutdown 83s after lift-off, its manufacturer Makeev says, and it probably crashed in the Barents Sea.
