Gadair European Airlines, a Madrid-based start-up, has agreed to buy majority stakes in Cubana and Ecuatoriana. Gadair plans to enter aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance contracts with both airlines, as well as with two carriers in Africa, using a number of 767 widebodies leased from Boeing. Cubana is Cuba’s flag carrier; Ecuatoriana has had no aircraft for six years.
