Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will increasingly dominate the maintenance, repair and overhaul market over the next 10 years, says consultancy Aerostrategy in its latest market forecast.

Aerostrategy principal David Stewart told delegates attending Aviation Week's MRO Europe conference in London today that the industry is "moving to a more OEM-centred world".

He predicts that by 2020, engine and airframe OEMs will increase their market share and the supply chain will also become "more OEM-centric".

"Airframe OEMs are increasing their focus on the aftermarket. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when," says Stewart. This could create problems in the future for independent MRO providers to access the required documentation to carry out their business, he warns.
