The Italian air force has provided further details of its planned acquisition of three Boeing 737-based airborne early-warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. The service plans to field its first aircraft in 2010 with its 41st Wing at Sigonella airbase, Sicily, with subsequent deliveries to run at intervals of six to eight months.
