While Airbus has posted sales worth more than $12 billion at the show, its competitor has delivered, a new policy.
Boeing commercial airplane chief Alan Mulally declared the other day that the company did not "really use the air show to announce orders for Boeing."
A glance at issues of Flight Daily News going back to the dawn of time suggests this is, to put it politely, a change of policy, probably related to the fact that the company has little or no orders to announce.
This of course has not stopped Airbus playing the tactical change-the-time-of-the-press-conference game.
The European airframer suddenly brought a scheduled press conference forward by 15min - coincidentally, no doubt, ensuring that droves of scribes and photographers had to leave a Boeing press event early.
