Rolls-Royce has signed a long-term contract to supply Chinese light aircraft manufacturer Jiangsu A-Star with turboprop engines to power the Extra EA-500 it will manufacture.
The $50 million agreement will see R-R provide M250-B17F engines, and follows its recent purchase of the type certificate for the EA-500.
In a press statement, R-R says that it will start delivering the engines next year, and confirms that discussions are ongoing with Jiangsu A-Star over further contracts for maintenance, repair and training services.
The British aero-engine manufacturer adds that the engines will be assembled at its Indianapolis facility in the US, before being shipped to Jiangsu A-Star's production facility in Zhenjiang for installation on the aircraft.
