A 26-year-old British Airways female pilot, Jessica Starmer, is taking the airline to an employment tribunal in pursuit of her demand for "50% part-time working" to enable her to look after her one-year-old daughter. The British Air Line Pilots' Association and BA both say they are trying to encourage more women into the still male-dominated profession, and the union adds: "With more women entering the profession, a new range of employment practices is required including part-time working. We are stunned that BA has not woken up to this fact."
