A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to accelerate the establishment of an aviation joint venture based in China has been signed at Paris.
Aero International (Regional) (AI(R)) and Aviation Industries of China (AVIC) agreed to work toward industrial cooperation with a goal of transferring a part of the production of the ATR 72 aircraft to China.
The co-operation anticipates that the final assembly line, marketing and product support activities for the ATR 72 aircraft will be performed through one or two joint ventures based in China.
The decision comes one month after Xian Aircraft Company (part of AVIC) won the contract to manufacture the rear section of the ATR 72 fuselage, together with a contract for the purchase of five ATR 72s by a Chinese airline.
