Local businessmen have been attempting to unseat Viktor Mikhailov, head of Aviastar, the Ulyanosk, Russia-based aircraft plant which produces the Tupolev Tu-204-120. The boardroom coup, which is based on a disputed Russian Government shareholding in the plant, follows the signing of a lucrative order from Egyptian conglomerate Kato Aromatic to buy up to 200 Tu-204s. A rival board of directors has been established and has voted in Gennadi Korotnev, formerly Aviastar personnel director, to head the company, but Kato has given its "full support"to Mikhailov.
