Daimler-Benz Aerospace (Dasa) missiles subsidiary LFK expects a German procurement contract for the long-range Trigat anti-tank missile in 1999.

Its declaration comes despite the collapse of commitment to the Euromissile Dynamics Group project from France, which may now run a contest to select a weapons system for its Eurocopter Tiger HAC anti-armour helicopters.

The fire-and-forget weapon is equipped with an infrared charge-coupled device seeker, allowing the launching helicopter to remain in cover after dispatching its missiles. It has a hollow-charge warhead.

The first successful guided test launch of the weapon was carried out on 12 March in France.
