Dubai is staking its claim as the first international aerospace exhibition for the new millennium, even if it's a bit ahead of time.

The sixth Dubai Air Show, to be held 14-18 November 1999, has been given a 21st century title - Dubai 2000 - which reflects the forward-thinking image of the emirate.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation, says: "This title reinforces Dubai's standing as a city of the future."

Virginia Kern, managing director of Fairs and Exhibitions, the show organiser, adds: "Our reasoning behind the Dubai 2000 title is that by November 1999 we will have reached the threshold of a new millennium and everyone will be concentrating on a new era of challenges for the aviation industry."

Details on the new dedicated facilities for Dubai 2000 and planned developments for Dubai International Airport can be obtained from Booth B221.
