European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Reiter will be launched on a 135-day spaceflight aboard the Soyuz TM22 on 3 September (Flight International, 14-20 September, 1994). He will work aboard the Russian Mir space station with Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Avdeyev, replacing Anatoli Solovyov and Nikolai Budarin, who were delivered to the Mir on the Space Shuttle Atlantis in June.
