A US company developing a vehicle data recorder system for cars has announced plans to develop a version for use as a flight data recorder (FDR) in general aviation aircraft. Santa Barbara, California-based Diversified Auto Technology expects its general aviation FDR to be available in the first quarter of next year, at a projected price of $3,000-3,500, compared with around $35,000 for air transport FDRs.
