FRENCH PRIVATE airlines Air Liberte and Euralair have agreed to code-sharing and interlining deals on the Paris/Orly-Toulouse route.

The move is unprecedented in French air-transport history, and is aimed at providing stronger competition on the route to previous monopoly holder Air Inter. It opens the possibility that the two might join forces if they are awarded the Orly-Marseilles route this year.

Together, the airlines will offer nine flights a day, beginning at the end of October, against state-owned Air Inter's 14. Three of these will be flown by Euralair and the rest by Air Liberte.

Air Liberte president Lotfi Belhassine expects the 30% share of the Toulouse traffic won since the airline began operating the route in January to increase to 38%.
