It was designed as an air force trainer and for transporting civil and military officials, and is the forerunner of all modern Dassault aircraft. The last Flamant was retired from air force service in 1987 and, of the 325 built, seven remain in civil use. This example (MSN189) was restored at the beginning of 2000 and made its first flight 23 November 2003.
The aircraft stands next to the 7X, Dassault’s latest entry into the business jet market, due for its first delivery in April 2007, 60 years after the Flamant. Dassault chief executive Charles Edelstenne describes the 7X as “the most technologically advanced business jet in the world”.
