Seawind Aircraft has secured funding to accelerate development of its single-engined amphibian, the Seawind 300C. The aircraft was originally developed as a kit and 150 were sold, of which 64 are flying.
The US company decided three years ago to discontinue its experimental lines and concentrate on the certificated aircraft, which is targeted at small businesses and owner-flyers.
Development is split between two Quebec-based companies - Advanced Aero is responsible for aircraft manufacture and Flight Dynamics manages the engineering work. Pennsylvania- based Seawind is responsible for sales and marketing of the $290,000-$320,000 aircraft.
