Blue Streak missile designer Godfrey Harold Ellis has died at the age of 69. Ellis headed de Havilland's development effort on components for the UK's last, and ultimately abortive, attempt to build an intercontinental missile. He was responsible for items such as cryogenic-engineering, gas generators and heat exchangers and co-ordination of work with other research establishments. He subsequently worked for a variety of UK Government agencies, as well as leading UK engineering companies.
