New Zealand is postponing announcement of a contractor to supply six naval helicopters until Australia has completed its own evaluation of the rival Kaman SH-2G Super SeaSprite and LHTEC CTS800-powered Westland Super Lynx later in the year. The Royal Australian Navy has a similar requirement for a shipboard helicopter, but is not expected to finalise its choice until November. "The project is a collaborative one," says New Zealand defence minister Paul East. "We want to ensure that the equipment we buy is compatible with Australia's."
