Ilyushin is still aiming to fly the first production Pratt & Whitney PW2000-powered Il-96, the Il-96T freighter, before the end of 1996, despite the cash problems, which are hindering the project. The supply of parts from some Russian vendors has been prevented because the design bureau, and its partner the Vorenezh production plant, does not have the funds to pay for them. Aeroflot's order for 20 Il-96s had been divided between the passenger and freighter models.
