Israel Military Industries (IMI)is to upgrade its Improved Tactical Air Launched Decoy (I-TALD) to allow it to mimic the radar cross-section of specific fighters, rather than appear as a simple blip on enemy radar screens. IMI - which makes the self-propelled I-TALD for the US Navy - is developing an upgraded radio-frequency payload to produce the fighter-specific radar signature. The capability is needed to defeat sophisticated air defence systems that prioritise threats.
