India's business aviation industry is predicted to be three times as large by 2020, according to the country's newly-formed Business Aircraft Operators' Association (BAOA).

"Considering the immense potential India has - with more than 1,000 aircraft to be added over the next 10 years - there is an imminent need of a body that would aim to bring the fraternity into close co-operation for overall industry growth and mutual benefit," president of BAOA Rohit Kapur said.

"BAOA will act as a catalyst to unify the cornerstones of this growth and overcome the existing challenges the business aviation sector faces today."

The association will press the Indian government to provide infrastructure to support the sector, Kapur added.

BAOA has 39 members, including private and commercial operators, airframe and engine manufacturers and maintenance and repair providers.
