Meteor, the newest Israeli manufacturer of unmanned air vehicles, is developing an advanced medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) platform.

Itzhak Nissan, the company’s co-founder and chief executive, confirms the existence of such a programme but declines to detail its specification.

However, sources indicate that the MALE UAV will have an endurance of 25-30h and a maximum take-off weight of about 1,000kg (2,200lb).

The new programme is running in parallel with the continued development of Meteor’s Impact UAV.

Powered by a 100hp (74kW) fuel-injection engine, the Impact’s endurance is more than 24h and it is capable of carrying a 150kg payload.
