Italy's aerospace industry remained virtually unchanged in 1996, with sales of L7,500 billion ($4 billion) according to figures from the country's Aerospace Industries Association (AIA. The workforce was also largely unchanged at 33,500 although this may fall in 1997. The AIA also warned that Italy is spending too little on research and development.
