John Fozard, chief designer of the British Aerospace Harrier from 1965-78, died at the end of July. Among the many titles and positions he held, was marketing director at BAe Kingston-Brough division from 1978, and president of the Royal Aeronautical Society during 1986-7. Since his retirement from BAe in 1989, he had been conducting lectures and consulting in aeronautics in the UK and the USA.
