New Zealand’s Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust has taken delivery of its first A119 Koala helicopter, marking the first sale of the type in New Zealand. The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust is now the pre-eminent provider of emergency medical services (EMS) in New Zealand, and the arrival of the A119 Koala at base hospital will dramatically improve the trust’s aeromedical capabilities.

The trust receives half of its funding from the New Zealand Government, but the rest is raised within the community, via the New Zealand lotteries, pub charities and through sponsorship by local businesses.

In EMS configuration, the A119 can accommodate two stretchers without any intrusion into the cockpit area, and with full access to the patients for the medical staff.
