A South Korean opposition politician has attacked selection of General Electric's F110-129 to power up to 80 Boeing F-15Ks for the air force. Pratt & Whitney has powered all F-15s to date and was expected to win the contract after Seoul said interoperability with the US Air Force was a key factor in choosing the F-15. Maeng Hyung-kyu has claimed associates of president Kim Dae-jung, who are awaiting trail on separate corruption charges, may have influenced the engine decision.
