Litton's California-based Guidance and Control Systems division, has won a $22.3 million US Army contract, to produce "several hundred" PPX-3B identification-friend-or-foe (IFF) interrogator sets. The interrogator sets will be linked to shoulder- or vehicle-mounted anti-aircraft weapon systems such as the Stinger, Chaparral or Avenger, and will be used to send a coded identification signal to target aircraft.
