British European has firmed up its launch commitment with BAE Systems for up to 20 Avro RJX-100s for delivery from April. The $600 million deal includes firm orders for 12 aircraft and options on eight more. British World Airlines has leased a Rolls-Royce RB211-powered Boeing 757-200 for 18 months from Tombo Aviation, and is poised to introduce a fourth Boeing 737-300, leased from GE Capital Aviation Services. The 757 will be offered on ad hoc charters, and is expected to be joined by two more examples next year. Spanish charter carrier Iberworld is to acquire an Airbus A330-200 for its long haul services from Madrid to the Caribbean. Cebu Pacific has signed a letter of intent for the lease of two RB211-powered 757-200s for delivery in October.
