Taiwan has dropped plans to buy Matra BAe Mistral shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles, says defence minister Chiang Chung-ling. Taiwan had reportedly wanted 2,000 missiles worth $360 million, but was blocked by France under pressure from China. The USA will instead supply Taiwan with the Hughes AIM-92 Stinger system, says Chiang.
