Airbus has established a dedicated training programme for inspections and repairs of composite airframe structures.

The manufacturer says the new course has been developed to meet European Union Aviation Safety Agency recommendations as the increased use of carbonfibre on latest-generation aircraft demands “new skills for damage assessment, inspection procedures and repair activities”.

The modular, “tailored” course is initially focused on the A350 but will be extended to other types from 2020, the airframer says.

It adds that airlines in Asia and Europe have signed up for the training.
