Alaska Airlines has terminated codeshare partnerships with major international carriers LATAM Airlines and Singapore Airlines

Both agreements ended on 1 October, according to filings with the US Department of Transportation, ceasing reciprocal loyalty benefits for passengers of those carriers.

Alaska, along with regional subsidiary Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines, delivered a notice to the DOT that the codeshare agreements between the carriers are no longer effective.

Singapore also confirms the split.

Alaska’s decision to shed codeshare partners comes after recently rolling out an overhauled shared redemption programme with Hawaiian Airlines called Atmos Rewards.

“Starting October 1, 2025, Atmos Rewards members will be unable to redeem points for LATAM flights,” Alaska’s website tells customers. ”However, any tickets you’ve already booked remain valid.”

Singapore Airlines no longer counts Alaska Airlines among its 40-some codeshare partners

Alaska appears to be maintaining interline agreements with LATAM and Singapore, allowing passenger to book shared-itinerary tickets and get baggage checked through to their end destinations.

Alaska does not immediately respond to FlightGlobal’s request for comment.

Neither Alaska nor Singapore have explained why they are scaling down their relationship, which launched in August 2017 with the airlines coordinating on flights from the West Coast of the USA to the Asia-Pacific region – particularly via Singapore’s flights to Seattle starting in 2019.

However, the partnership appeared to become a less-comfortable fit in intervening years, as Alaska became a member of the Oneworld airline alliance in 2021, while Singapore has flown as a Star Alliance carrier for 25 years.

LATAM, meanwhile, withdrew from Oneworld in 2020 and has since resisted joining joint venture partner Delta Air Lines on SkyTeam.

Affiliating with opposing airline alliances is by no means a deal-breaker, however, as Alaska partners with a wide array of non-Oneworld carriers including Aer Lingus, Condor, Icelandair and Porter Airlines

Shifting Asia-Pacific market dynamics may have played a role in the end of Alaska and Singapore’s codeshare partnership, as Alaska is anchoring an ambitious new Boeing 787 long-haul operation in Seattle.
