Common fuel gauging systems produced by UTC Aerospace Systems are to be used by Airbus across all its single-aisle products. The system and component supplier's full fuel gauging systems are currently used by the aircraft manufacturer for its A321 aircraft, but the new deal announced at the Paris air show will also see them used on the A319, the A320 and the A320neo from early 2014.

UTC says the system, which has successfully completed fit check and system demonstration tests, will provide Airbus's narrowbody aircraft with improved performance and reliability over earlier systems, and includes common fuel probes, indicators and a fuel level sensing control unit.

"UTC Aerospace Systems was selected for this programme because we offered a comprehensive fuel measurement solution Airbus could incorporate into their single-aisle aircraft family," says Jan Mathiesen, vice-president sensors and integrated systems.
