Michel Audet, Québec's Minister of Economic and Regional Development and Research (pictured), paid his first visit to the Farnborough airshow yesterday to promote the Canadian province's competitive edge in the aerospace industry.

Listing the advantages of doing business in Québec, Audet said: "We have the manpower with a bilingual workforce, a good fiscal framework to support research and development and programmes to help finance new investment."

Advantages

He added that Québec's good political and economic environment contributed to a long list of advantages.

During his visit, Audet met with Pier Ludovico Ughi, president and chief executive of the Italian firm Mecaer, and confirmed a C$500,000 ($400,000) grant to support a proposed Performance LT retractable landing gear assembly, testing and certification plant in Laval, Québec.
