Russian helicopter companies Mil and Kamov are preparing responses to proposals that they should combine.
A question on reports of a forthcoming ‘integration' of the two companies at a press conference given by Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport at the show yesterday received a cautious response.
Yuri Andrianov, general director of the Moscow Helicopter Production Plant – after commenting on what he perceived as the "political" nature of the inquiry – declined to go too deeply into the matter.
However, he said that, following a Russian presidential decree on developing a more vertical structure for the helicopter industry, both companies were now preparing submission on the subject. These would go to the central government to enable it to take a decision on vertically integrating the sector.
