I regularly fly as a passenger between the UK and North America, and have seen and welcomed the marked increase in security at airports in the USA since the tragic events of 11 September.
But I have just returned from a trip which involved a journey with a major US airline from Calgary to Houston, on which I flew first class. My meal tray arrived with one metal spoon, two metal forks and a plastic knife. Am I missing something here?
I gather from flightcrew friends that such anomalies are common. Is it not time that the industry took a common sense approach to security issues?
