The pith helmet may for some be synonymous with a bygone era of British colonialismm, but for Saphi 2000 it is a point of pride.

The South African military headwear manufacturer began business in Pretoria in 1940 making helmets for both the British and South African armies.

Saphi (South African Pith Helmet Industries) now supplies a range of millinery including berets and military style-baseball caps.

Core business is the design and creation of military peak caps for formal occasions. These adorn the heads of servicemen and women in the navies, armies, air forces, and prison services of many African and western countries.

Saphi is exhibiting at Dubai 2000 (E621). As well as formal headwear, it also has on display its range of ballistic helmets and vests and webbing equipment.
