Honeywell Aerospace has unveiled new route optimisation technology to cover Eurocontrol routes, which will be incorporated into its GoDirect Flight Planning service.

The technology will "ease the burden" on pilots and dispatchers operating in the congested Eurocontrol region by enabling them to access more efficient routes, says Honeywell.

It delivers a 90% route approval rate, reducing the amount of time customers spend on flight planning and resulting in a "significantly reduced" likelihood of delays and mistakes, says the manufacturer.

"The European region is a congested and complex airspace, but that doesn't mean operators and pilots need to settle for the current state of affairs when software, connectivity and analytics can deliver better routes with higher confidence," says John Peterson, vice-president and general manager of software and services at Honeywell.

"With this new technology, we are offering our customers an unparalleled and integrated solution that will increase their success rates with Eurocontrol, making flight planning much faster and easier."

The technology complies with Eurocontrol's 22,000 unique routing rules and constraints, which Honeywell says provides "peace of mind" for pilots and dispatchers.
