Singapore's Air Traffic Rights Committee has decided to take away some of Jetstar Asia/Valuair's traffic rights to Jakarta and give them to Tiger Airways.
Tiger says the Air Traffic Rights Committee has decided give some of Jetstar Asia/Valuair's traffic rights to Tiger so it can have a double daily service to Jakarta.
Innovata data shows Tiger already has a daily non-stop service on the Singapore-Jakarta route, while Singapore-based Jetstar Asia/Valuair has 24 weekly flights.
Having a double daily service to Jakarta will help Tiger to attract business travellers, confirms a Tiger spokesman.
The spokesman was unable to say when the new flights will commence but adds it is likely to be in this year's fourth quarter.
A Jetstar Asia/Valuair spokeswoman says they will be appealing the decision and "are hopeful of positive dialogue".
